5 Ways to Embrace Seasons of Change/Transitions
Whether we love it or not, change is inevitable in our leadership journey. It is our responsibility to learn how to master and embrace change so that we can evolve as leaders.
Have a plan in place, practice certain habits, and adopt mindsets to be a person who masters seasons of transition.
Seek wise counsel. Ask people questions that have been to where you are going. Be wise and ask them questions about their own experiences and what they have learned. The journey will not be exactly the same, but there are principles that they learned that you can apply to your own life.
Take steps while you are afraid. There were many changes that I made in life that I knew were part of my destiny, but I was still fearful about making those moves. Being afraid or against a change does not negate that this change is good for you. I became more confident and embraced change as I took steps even when I did not 100% feel like it.
Adopt the mindset of being a lifelong learner. When you are a lifelong learner, you value new experiences. You recognize that the right new experiences and relationships open up doors for you to produce greater fruit. When you implement little changes in your life on a regular basis and see the fruits of those shifts, you will be more open to larger opportunities of change that come to your door.
Write out your transition plan. If you are fortunate enough, you can write out a plan before you experience a change. There are times when you know in advance that you have to make adjustments. Your plans will not be perfect, but at least you will have something to look at that will not make change feel so scary. Take your plan to the trusted advisors and peers that you have in your life.
Seek peace from God. You may be vehemently against a change or you may feel nervous. Ask God to settle your heart and mind about this change that is coming in your life. Allow God to allay your fears through studying His Word.
All of the habits and mindsets mentioned can be easier to embrace if we are individuals that make it a habit to study God’s word.
