TOKUNBO OKULAJA
Tokunbo Okulaja is a first-generation American born to Nigerian parents. She grew up both in Prince George’s County Maryland and Fairfax, Virginia. Tokunbo uses her love of learning, writing, leadership, teaching, and creating to passionately push people to pursue their authentic purpose. She has a unique gift to activate the greatness that is already inside of people. For over seven years, she has helped leaders of all ages discover their authentic voice through writing and speaking.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Politics with a minor in Rhetoric from the University of Maryland, College Park. Also, Tokunbo Okulaja completed her Master of Arts degree in Public School Building Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York.
In 2013, Tokunbo joined Teach For America. This began her ongoing career in teaching middle school English, Language Arts, Reading, Social Studies, and Leadership in both public and charter school settings using advanced 21st-century learning and technology standards. Tokunbo has served as a lead teacher in underserved communities in Mississippi, Louisiana, Illinois, and North Carolina for seven years and counting. Tokunbo has spent years spearheading new programs and creating innovative solutions with schools, non-profits, churches, and individuals that have positively changed the trajectory of many lives. She is dedicated to developing young leaders; therefore, she founded the When Gentlemen Speak initiative. WGS equips teen African-American males to excel in academics, character, and entrepreneurship.
In 2019, Tokunbo became the CEO and founder of Tokunbo The Leader LLC. Tokunbo The Leader LLC is designed to help leaders discover VIP-Voice, Identity, and Purpose so that they dominate in their destiny!
Furthermore, she provides coaching, mentoring, and consulting for people and organizations to pioneer opportunities for the next generation to walk in uncharted territories. Tokunbo currently resides in North Carolina where she continues blazing trails in the area of education.
