All prophetic scribes are messengers who are anointed or called by God. They receive an agenda and mandate from heaven to be His recorder here on earth. A prophetic scribe means that a person is prophetic. Being prophetic means that you can navigate with the Holy Spirit to write down a message that comes from Him.
Being prophetic does not mean that someone is a prophet, but it means that this type of scribe or writer can easily partner with or hear from the Holy Spirit to write down messages that He wants His people to hear. A lot of prophets can enjoy writing eloquent messages for God’s people. Because prophets have to hear God’s voice, it is natural for them to use their writing to warn and encourage His people.
5 Signs of a Prophetic Scribe
Holy Spirit-led/Prophetically Gifted: These individuals create outlines and visions for what they want to write, but they can easily sense the direction that God wants to go in. When they feel the new direction that God wants them to go in, they can shift into this direction with great ease. They are more concerned about what is on the heart and mind of God when it comes to their writing.
Series of Books/Writing Topics: You may receive one book idea, but when you start working on this idea it triggers the idea for another book. You receive an exhaustive list of ideas to write about based on the same topic. For example, you have ideas for a series of books about marriage because God has given you the volume and grace to write on this topic. It is not uncommon for this person to possibly be writing three books at one time. In addition, this person may create a blog series on marriage ideas because they are full of information that God wants His people to hear.
Relevant Revelation: What you write is still relevant years later. Sometimes you read something that you wrote 5 or 10 years ago, and you can still find that it is relevant today.
Obsessions: You may be obsessed with having the perfect journals and pens to write with. A fresh journal or different pen gives you excitement.
Healing Through Writing: You experienced healing through writing about your pain; therefore, you have a strong desire to help other people learn how to use writing to heal. You want people to understand the freedom that takes place through writing about painful moments that they have endured.
