What mindsets do you have that have been keeping you from writing down your powerful story? What has hindered you from sharing with people how you overcame certain tragedies in life?  If you knew how many people’s lives would be transformed by your words, you would be motivated to write until your book gets published. I have met so many brilliant leaders who have these amazing book ideas that have the potential to radically shift other people’s perspectives. Unfortunately, many of these great future authors never set the time aside to write their stories. It is not enough to keep a great idea in your mind; you have to bring the story to life using your words. There are certain disciplines and mindset shifts that you need to have so that a blank piece of paper turns into a message that will bring people hope, freedom, and joy.

4 Ways to Motivate You to Write Your Story

  1. Choose writing days and times. You have to be intentional about the days where you will focus on writing your manuscript. This day has to be so serious that your friends and family know not to bother you during this day and time. Your schedule requires that you pick a day and time to make sure you are focused on your writing projects.

  2. Focus can be offensive. Now that you are focused, you have to understand that some people will be annoyed with you. Why? Because you are rearranging your schedule to have time to complete something that is important to you. Get ready to start making people upset because of your new level of focus. You have to choose if people’s approval is more important than completing work that can change other people’s lives.

  3. Tell your own story. One of the ways that you will be motivated to continue writing is making sure that you tell people your story of victory. If you overcame challenges in a particular area in your life, you have the ability to share with people how you won. There is wisdom that you should have extracted while going through any tribulations in life. Give people practical principles that helped you experience victory. When you embark on your writing journey, do not be worried about what you do not have. What you already have is important. You have a story to tell.

  4. Accountability. Do you have a friend, coach, mentor, or family member in your life that can hold you accountable to finish your writing dreams? Who have you told about your ingenious book idea? Who is that person in your life that reminds you of your goals? We all need that one person in our lives that will not let us quit. Discover who you have in your life that can help you go from a great book idea to being a published author that uses your words to transform lives.
